Dad's birthday ..

A day after my birthday, it's always my father's birthday. Perhaps I am the biggest birthday present he ever received and surely an expensive one to maintain.

After making many attempts on what to have for the birthday boy I decided on Esmirada and it seems like I made a good choice.

Not a single diner in the restaurant except a table of ten pax consisting of our family. It seemed like we booked the place. :)

Food was pretty alright. I wouldn't say it was fantastic but just average. The company was great though.

Hope everyone else enjoyed the meal even though I settled for a Greek salad. Too much rich food over the past week and it isn't helping my waistline look good. Don't want to end up missing my toes.

Anyways, wishing my dad a Happy Birthday and may he enjoy great health...

Turning 32 ...

This morning Luca smiled at me when he opened his eyes ... He must know it's my birthday because the smile was sweeter than those on other mornings.

Luca is a very cheerful and smiley boy who hardly cries without reason. A little easier to manage at least for now but I start to see his devilish horns appearing.

I am blessed to have this little fella and a doting wife. I am also blessed to have supportive family who help tend Luca and I am thankful for them all.

32 is merely a figure as I always will be young at heart. :)

Thank you all for the wishes and may all the wishes come true for you, me and our families.

He caught the bug ...

The temperature from his left ear read 39.0 degrees celcius while the right read 38.6. Luca has fallen ill and has caught an unwanted bug or perhaps as a Chinese belief we blame it on the teething.

Again it breaks my heart to see him lethergic and inactive. A very different boy from who he actually is when he is free from invasive germs.

But one thing for sure is he still puts on a cheerful smile and laughs heartily as if forcing himself. All these actions I believe is to keep us assured that he's well and also to make sure we remain entertained by his mischievousness too.

Let's hope he takes only a day or two to recover and not allow it to drag too long because many minds can't rest due to him being sick.

Let's face it ... No kid grows up without fever and Luca will only grow healthier and stronger.

Walking ...

Making baby steps, the little fella is starting to walk a bit now with the support of an adult holding him. Although the steps seem small, his legs just move rapidly on the ground making it seem like he is starting to run.

Very cute indeed but surely hurting the backs of the older folks as anyone who wants to take him for a walk will need to bend over to support him.

He is now an expert in the art of crawling and our eyes have to be watchful for hazardous objects in his way. A little careless on our part and the little one will suffer.

When he starts to walk on his own, I'll need a leash.

Luca is spoilt ...!

I guess it is our fault that Luca is now spoilt and pampered.

Lately, he won't sleep on his own bed for long and in the middle of the night he will just wake up and call out to us to transfer him to our bed to sleep between us.

It can be torturing to have the little one in between us because he is quite a bad sleeper and once in a while he actually rests his legs on my tummy. Yes, it seems cute the first or second time but every night is surely frustrating.

What's worst is when he doesn't fall asleep again, he will give you a very nice smile with his eyes open big as if asking you to wake up and play with him. If we ignored him, he'll crawl to your face and slap you. Trust me, he is quite a strong chap and the slap hurts.

Recently, we decided to add in an extra item to soothe his nerves (as well as mine) and it worked really well. Just turn on the music and allow Hayley Westenra to do the job. He'll lie so still he won't even move and slowly drift into a deep sleep.

That little fella sure knows how to bully us ...

Gong Xi Fa Cai ...

The Rabbit Year marks Luca's first Chinese New Year and visiting outside of mommy's womb is surely more fun as Luca joins in the joy of visiting relatives.

Being the new member, he becomes the attraction of family visits this year, amusing relatives and friends as he crawls from living rooms to kitchens.

I guess when the next Year comes, Luca will start running. Being very agile, we adults will have a tiring time chasing his back.

By then I am sure he'll also be working on new year goodies and hiding sweets in his pockets while forgoing red packets. I can imagine that little boy seated in one corner eating happily the pineapple tarts and bah kwa all by himself while creating a bit of a mess.

That's growing up for you. :)

I'll like to take this opportunity to wish you a great Rabbit Year and may health, wealth and prosperity stick with you through the many years ahead.
