Growing up ...

He picks things up really fast and throws it as fast as he picks them. Is that normal in a kid that's growing and learning the laws of physics?

It seems so.

As Luca develops strength, his throws seem rather deadly. This evening he picked up a tin of sweets and swung it in the direction of the domestic helper. Almost hitting her.

Sandy immediately disciplined the boy. She was right to do so.

Although the boy does it unknowingly, a throw like this can cause physical damage to whomever is in his way and we will not tolerate such behaviour leaving his throws to chance.

What if the item indeed hit the helper in the eye? We would be guilty for the longest time.

Therefore raising our hands to hit him is to teach him that his actions are wrong and never to do it again.

Of course it'll take more than one hit to have him learn the lesson but it is necessary.

I don't know how else to teach him but to raise my voice as well as spank him.

Do you have any tips for me?
