How many of us here hate the scent in a brand new car? Not me for sure but I know someone who does. Now,just imagine you are seated in a new sedan that you just purchased. Take a deep breath and smell .... Was it awful?
I read a report on CNN about how some environmental group claimed that the smell was toxic and it was phthalates that contributed to the 'new car smell'. Phthalates through inhalation and contact with dust could cause birth defects, liver toxicity and premature births as tested on laboratory animals.
Therefore the next time you enjoy that breather in your new car, think twice before you take that deep breath. You could be safer driving with your windows down and your seat belts buckled.
By the way, I have not revealed who hates this 'new car smell'. You want to make a guess? Well, its Mr Shek.
